Vilamoura

With about 2,000 hectares of land, Vilamoura can boast about being one of Europe's largest single tourist complexes. With its close proximity to Faro Airport, and Quinta do Lago, it can be seen as one of the corners of the Algarve's famous 'Golden Triangle'.

Vilamoura has much to offer in terms of entertainment and leisure, especially with its beautiful beaches, golf clubs and sports facilities, including lawn bowling, tennis, health clubs, as well as a shooting club, casino, vibrant nightclubs and bars, and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

The marina is at Vilamoura's heart, and is surrounded by large hotels and luxury holiday homes and apartments.  Here is where you will see the beautiful yachts and vessels moored, some are available to  charter for fishing and pleasure cruising trips.  There is also a wide range of water sports activities available along the beaches.

For the historians visiting, the museum and Roman ruins give an insight in the area's past and origins.  Vilamoura was a Roman fishing village, and its ruins include baths which the mariners used for bathing.
