The discreet architectural design of Villa Nautilus, yet modern

of the area with its three "Cabanas" or "Casitas".
The interiors are modern and "clean" with a touch of local
materials, which cleverly highlight the atmosphere and its colors

The main �Casita` has a modern fully equipped kitchen, an open
plan living room, and a dining room that seats 6. The beautiful
hallway leads on to the main suite, which has a king size bed and
en suite bathroom.
The second �Casita` has a living room, with a wonderful sofa bed
and a twin room. The bathroom and walk in shower has a beautiful
mirror wall, creating a great sense of space.
The third �Casita, has double beds, handmade cupboards and a
modern en suite bathroom, with a very spacious open plan shower and
a glass wall window.
Right in the centre of the carefully landscaped garden, lives the
masterpiece of this luxury property, a 500 year old olive tree.
The Villa is situated in the village of Brejos da Carregueira,
which is a popular destination, especially in summer amongst the
European jetsetters. The area of Comporta is 80 km South of
Lisbon and is has endless sandy beaches to the West and the Sado
Estuary to the East and North which is protected zone, home to
dolphins and the Arrabida Mountain Range National Park.
Location:
The villa is located in Brejos da Carregueira Village in Comporta,
a popular summer destination among the European jetsetters.
80 km South of Lisbon, Comporta is blessed with endless sandy
beaches to the West and the unique setting of the protected Sado
Estuary (with its dolphins and the Arrabida Mountain Range National
Park) to the East and the North.
Comporta is the longest sandy beach in Europe (stretching over
60km of protected white sand). Comfortably protected from the
northern winds by the beautiful Arrabida Mountain Range across the
Sado Estuary, the area is still untouched by the real estate boom,
with its fine dining restaurants over the dunes with fresh fish and
seafood specialties making it one of the most exclusive and
desirable holiday beaches in Europe. Comporta also is very
popular among artists and trendsetters, attracted by its
understated stylish atmosphere and fantastic weather.
Troia resort, with its golf course, casino, beautiful beaches,
restaurants and nightclubs, is a short 15 minute drive to the
North. Across from the beautiful peninsula, Setubal and the
Arrabida National Park, are within easy reach via a ferryboat
across the Sado Estuary, from which you can occasionally spot
dolphins and flamingos.
Comporta is surrounded by historic towns, which have been
greatly influenced over the centuries. The Phoenicians were first,
followed by the Romans, then the Moors and later by the Catholic
Reconquista from the 13th century. Each have left their imprint on
the landscape. There are traces of forts and settlements from as
early as the 6th century BC.
The cultyure of salt led to the area coming to prominence during
the Roman times. There are Roman ruins and monuments scattered from
Troia in the North to Santiago do Cac�m in the South. Just south is
the town of Sines, known for its geographically important port. It
has a beautiful well preserved Castle overlooking the narrow
streets of the pleasent old centre. Several small beautiful sandy
beaches offer great panoramic views of the west coast. Santiago do
Cac�m, in the south, is a lovely town full of character which
should also be visited. To the north is Set�bal, known for its
fantastic fresh fish. 80 km away is Lisbon, an easy day trip,
an hour's drive along the motorway.
Beaches:
Praia do Pego is 12km away from the house and offers all the
amenities expected of a high quality beach. It won the prize of
"best beach facilities" in Portugal. The "Restaurante Sal", is a
restaurant literally on the sand and won several awards for its
refined cuisine.
Comporta beach is situated in the limits of the wonderful Sado
Estuary Nature Reserve, which allows the region to preserve all its
astonishing natural beauty. Comporta combines the charm of its
dunes, the extensive pine tree area and the refreshing ocean.
With a quite extensive sandy area, the beach provides good
conditions for surfing and kite surfing alike. Comporta beach is
the longest sandy beach in the whole of Europe (over 60 km of
protected unspoilt coastline in a largely undiscovered area).
Parking facilites are good, and being so large it is never too
crowded. The beach offers good amenities and there are several
great restaurants.
There are other sandy beaches nearby, such as Aberta Nova,
Melides, etc.
Water sports:
Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing can all be practiced in
the safe bay of the Sado estuary, and as previously mentioned
surfing and kite surfing are practiced at Comporta beach.
Social Events:
From June to September local hip beach clubs host regularly trendy
night beach parties with international DJs. The special (hippy
chic) atmosphere is both casual and refined.
Gastronomy and wine tasting:
The region is famed for its gastronomy, with its fresh grilled
fish being an inexpensive delight. Five formal wine routes have
been devised in the Setubal peninsula by the 'Rota de Vinhos'
association, combining wine tasting with sightseeing, arts and
nature.
Excellent fresh fish and seafood restaurants are easy to find and
inexpensive.
Troia Golf:
The unique Troia Championship golf course is 30 km away (25 minute
drive). The brand new Hyatt Herdade do Pinheirinho Golf Course, a
stunning championship course located 12 km.
Getting there and around:
2 hours flight from most European cities and 7 hours from New
York, the Villa is reached by car from Lisbon airport in under
1h30. Faro airport is less than 2 hours away.
A car is recommended to fully enjoy the many delights of the
area.
There are small supermarkets and shops selling fresh products
within walking distance. For bigger shopping trips the town of
Gr�ndola is 20minutes away.
