Villa Alexandrite is a colonial-style villa near Santa Bárbara de Nexe in the Central Algarve, with distant sea views. The historic town of Santa Bárbara de Nexe is a five-minute drive away and Faro Airport is 15 minutes to the south. From the villa there are views of the Atlantic Ocean by day and the lights of Faro at night.
The villa stands on a 10,000m² plot set among olive and almond groves. Its sub-tropical garden has been carefully tended for more than 50 years and is filled with palm trees, bougainvillea, fruit trees and a wide variety of exotic plants. The house has a distinctive design and all modern conveniences.
A 150m driveway lined with more than 130 cypress trees leads up to the 50-year-old colonial-style house. Built on a single level, it was fully renovated in 2015/2016 using contemporary and traditional materials. A wide arched veranda with a large outdoor dining table overlooks the 13 x 5m swimming pool, which has cushioned loungers, large parasols and views across the garden to the sea. Next to the kitchen is an ivy-covered terrace with a built-in barbecue.
Inside, the villa has a large, fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, satellite TV and a Sonos sound system, and a spacious dining area. Three large double bedrooms each have air conditioning, satellite TV, a safe and an en suite bathroom with a separate shower. One of these bathrooms also has a large bath and a bidet. The two other air-conditioned bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower. The bathrooms and kitchen are finished in polished micro-cement, each in its own colour.
Across the inner courtyard at the front of the house is a spacious games room with a snooker table. There is also a separate laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and iron.
Outdoor activities include a 100m² putting green with putters and golf balls provided. It is made of high-quality artificial grass, so smoking is not permitted on the green, and it is not recommended for children under 10. On the east side of the house is a pétanque (jeu de boule) court, and there is a table tennis table with bats and balls. Diving goggles, pool floats and other pool accessories are also provided.
NB:
- Rentals run Saturday to Saturday, with check-in from 4pm and check-out by 10am. Early luggage drop-off may be possible on request.
- A midweek clean includes a change of towels and pillowcases. Bed linen is changed weekly.
- A welcome pack of essentials is provided for arrival. Fresh produce is not included.
- Tourist tax is charged separately.
